The group operates through the following brands:
Iveco, Iveco Motors, Iveco Magirus, Astra, Seddon Atkinson and Irisbus.
The company designs, builds and markets:
• a comprehensive range of light (2.8 – 6 tones GVW), medium (6 – 16 tones GVW) and heavy (over 16 tones GVW) commercial vehicles for use on and off the road
• engines for vehicle and industrial applications
• passenger transport vehicles
• special vehicles
• fire fighting vehicles
Iveco also complements its product range with an array of after-sales, financial and used vehicles services.
Plants number 49 and research and development centers 15 in 19 countries on the five continents. Iveco operates in over 100 through joint ventures, licensees and participating investments countries.
Company IVECO was created because of three companies’ absorption: Fiat Veicoli Industriali S.p.A. in Italy, Unic in France and Magirus Deutz AG in Germany in 1975. At the beginning, the plant Foggia (Italy) produced motors and Valle Ufita (Italy) began the production of microbuses. So in 1978 of took place the presentation of the gamma of Daily from three to five tons of overall mass. In 1984 was placed in the production the truck TurboStar with the motor from 330 to 420 hp. This automobile is characterized by the integration of the technology of different countries in the comparison with the competitors. Cab was more comfortable, with the new suspension, and by innovative motors. From an organizational point of view, were created and grouped the following divisions: fire trucks, military automobiles, the production of engines for the industrial and sea industry, the production of buses. In 1986 in England was created enterprise Iveco Ford Truck Ltd. Company. It began to produce automobiles Ford Cargo. In the same period were released into the production models Euro: the heavy trucks EuroTech and EuroStar, EuroTrakker for the complex road conditions and EuroCargo - truck of average load capacity. To EuroCargo and EuroTech were given rewards “the truck of year” in 1992 and 1993 too. During September 1990, concern IVECO acquired 60% of actions Enasa, the producer of the commercial automobiles Pegaso and was created Iveco Pegaso. During August 1991, was opened the first plant TurboDaily in China. In the same year, in Turkey was created the joint-stock company Otoyol. This company produced trucks from 3, 5 to 8 tons and buses with 20-25 passenger places. In India, together with company Hinduja Group, IVECO it acquired controlling stock Ashok Leyland, the second producer of automobiles in the country according its sizes. In Australia IVECO acquired the local company ITAL (International Truck of Australia Ltd) in 1992. This was a strategic step toward the introduction it on the market of southeastern Asia. In the same period was signed the agreement between IVECO and Uralaz from Russia on the production of heavy trucks. In 1997 began production EuroCargo, EuroTech and EuroTrakker in Argentina. In 2000 on the international automobile exhibition in Amsterdam IVECO Daily was honored with the title “van of the year”. During the September of the same year, the EuroCargo range was produced with the new motor Tector. This is conceptually a new engine with the low level of ejections and noise, is remarkable that were reduced the running costs, for fuel and oil. In near timed was placed in the production the engine Cursor 13 with which will be equipped EuroTrakker and in the future EuroStar. In the last period was released IVECO Stralis in three different modifications and new IVECO EuroCargo. In both series conceptually are changed only the cabs.
